REFERENCE 3A MM deCapo i

Reference 3A has been awarded many patents for unique and creative solutions in loudspeaker design dating back to the mid 1960's. The original 3A Midi Master of the early 1980's used a unique, wide range driver, specifically designed and precision built with a hyper-exponentially shaped woven carbon cone on a very precise motor assembly, designed to be directly coupled to amplifiers without any crossovers. The goal was to keep the musical signal intact, avoiding phase errors, and transient delays.

One of the most successful loudspeaker designs of the 1980's, the MM has been improved upon and constantly refined. Representing the latest expression of the Reference 3A tradition, the MM de Capo i is now further refined and ready to bring the music closer to your heart.
The potentilally harmful effects of crossover components are removed from the path so the musical signal arrives at the driver uninterrupted. Covering an unusually wide range of the musical spectrum, this transducer responds precisely to every tiny musical detail arriving directly from the amplifier. The music is intact, coherent, fast and dynamic.
The high frequency driver was specifically selected and custom optimized. As there is no crossover, it is imperative that it perfectly matches the main driver acoustically and electrically for coherent and seamless integration of the music.

So how does it sound? Steve Rochlin of 'Enjoy the Music" states: "I am in love. From top to bottom, the sound reproduced from the Reference 3A de Capo i is smooth, clean, clear and very fast....possibly unmatched within this lower priced ($2.5K) non-horn category. I heartily recommend the Reference monitor without reservation."

Dulcet by REFERENCE 3A

Astonishingly deep and resolute bass, seamlessly integrated to a pristine treble range, delivering a relentlessly engaging musicality from a tiny enclosure. Loudspeaker enclosures made in smaller dimensions are inherently more rigid, reducing box resonance dramatically. Driver components mounted closer will naturally create a better point source to propagate more uniform sound waves. Smaller cabinet size improves cabinet diffraction effects for enhanced clarity. A new main driver was developed specifically for the Dulcet. This amazing four-inch driver fulfills the objective of achieving unusually deep and articulate bass. As with all Reference 3A designs, the Dulcet's main driver is directly coupled to amplifiers. Without crossover components interfering with musical signal flow, the sound is responsive, fast and artuculate. A simple, very high quality high pass filter is used on the treble unit for better integrated sound.

Peter Moncrief, in International Audio Review, says "This little speaker deserves to become the new world standard for mini-monitors, and an enduring classic for the ages. The Dulcet does everything a great mini-monitor is supposed to do, and does all these things extraordinarily well. Absolutely superb stereo imaging....excellent transparency.....trebles are fast, articulate, delicate, and airy....the natural warmth makes this diminutive speaker sound as though it were 10 times bigger, giving music a rich heft and tone that one hardly ever hears from small speakers. There are many competing mini-monitors on the market, some decent, many not. But the Reference 3A Dulcet is the one you want to get."
